RESERVE AD AETERNAM RED
RESERVE
AD AETERNAM
A plot of only one and a half hectares, made up of 100% old Merlot over fifty years old, from a unique terroir and exposure. This plot is the origin of this great wine for aging, designed to defy time.
The small volume of harvest harvested by hand allows fermentation directly in new French oak barrels exclusively.
This very demanding and little-used technique offers the advantage of producing great wines that should be forgotten for a few years to benefit from a rare and intense tasting. This is a wine of great expressiveness, with aromas of black fruit and prunes, combined with notes of undergrowth, truffle and spices, of great complexity. After around ten years, everything is perfectly in place, the woods are melted, the tannins are silky and the pleasure is extreme.
ADVICE: If you have never tasted our Ad Aeternam Reserve, we advise you to discover it from our 2012 vintage, which was brought to perfect maturity in the best storage conditions. You will discover the full potential of this exceptional wine, with this “ready to taste” vintage. If this wine has appealed to you, then imagine its potential in great vintages like 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020 or 2022, provided you can store them well, it is essential.
We recommend opening them after 10 years.
If certain vintages do not appear in the online store, it is because they are no longer (or not yet) available.

“...Blackberries, blueberries, nuts and dried flowers. Wet earth too. Corsica. Very fine and polished tannins and long and intense finish. Fantastic structure and concentration for the appellation..."

Julia Harding, UK, JancisRobinson.com
“...100% Merlot. Barrel sample.
Black core with elderberry colored edge.
Ripe, dark and rich bouquet. It's rich and full but also remarkably elegant, the tannins are already extremely refined and so polished. Dark and very pure, with just the right amount of freshness for a complete and elegant ensemble without any excess sweetness. Just a bit of alcoholic heat on the finish. The score is perhaps a little high, especially if I had tasted it in a broader context – but I was really seduced by this wine...."

Andreas Larsson, Sweden, Best Sommelier in the World 2007
“...Good intensity and maturity, some toasted, smoky notes, but not necessarily oak-derived, rather light oak, layers of deep dark fruit.
Dense and voluminous on the palate, complex on the palate, an excellent freshness/ripeness balance, crunchy cherries, blackcurrant and slightly spicy blackberry and a very long, pure finish. Really well done..."

“...Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque ink core, purple highlights, delicate edge lightening.
Fresh red cherries in the middle, nuances of redcurrants, hint of orange zest, fine herb spices.
Firm, tight, beautiful sweetness of the fruit, the wild red berries are highlighted, acidity rich in finesse, mineral-saline, with a touch of lemon on the finish, very good length, reliable aging potential...."

“...Purple purple. Intense and complex bouquet revealing its aging and the freshness of the terroir.
Shades of blueberries, cinnamon and mint. On the palate the wine is dense and tense.
It has a lively, saline structure that imparts class and freshness while the tannins hold in the background while ensuring aging prospects. A persistent and promising wine..."

Authentic Wine & Terroirs, Belgium
“...Very dense coat with an open disc at the beginning of development.
The bouquet with its assertive character is powerful and complex. Notes of jammy red fruits are combined with scents of fresh leather, prune, venison, spices and cocoa.
The palate keeps the promises of the bouquet. Ample and very aromatic, it offers a fruitiness still very present in a vintage which has successfully survived the years.
Partially melted tannins support an ambitious and structured whole, punctuated by a finish that is both broad and long...."
